Printmaking Fellow, 2014-2015
Biography

Serhat Tanyolacar is a Turkish-born artist specializing in transmedia printmaking, multimedia art, and political activism, focusing on civil rights, freedom of speech, social justice initiatives and neurodiversity awareness. His practice integrates traditional techniques—such as relief, intaglio, and lithography—with modern laser engraving and CNC technologies to explore themes of identity, nationalism, and socio-political dynamics.

In addition to his studio work, Tanyolacar engages in social practice through public performances and satire, addressing issues like censorship and civil liberties in projects such as Farewell (Elveda) and Denationalization Project. His recent exhibitions, including In-between Poetical Absurdities (2023) and Equilibrium (2025), further examine the intersection of personal narrative, caregiving, and societal advocacy. Tanyolacar currently serves as a Assistant Professor at Tuskegee University.
