An eight-week, online series exploring the art, history, culture, and the enduring allure of all things associated with prolific and iconic artist Grant Wood. Enjoy one, or all eight, of these weekly no-fee sessions featuring presentations, Q&A, conversation and suggestions for writers who aspire to submit poetry to the annual Forum-sponsored Iowa Grant Wood Poetry Award (via Iowa Poetry Association).
Each winter, the Grant Wood Art Colony hosts the Grant Wood Country Forum—a seasonal series of online presentations and conversations dedicated to Iowa’s most celebrated artist, Grant Wood.
Distinct from the biennial Grant Wood Symposium, the Country Forum offers a more relaxed and exploratory experience. Speakers and participants take deeper dives into lesser-known and interdisciplinary aspects of Wood’s life and work, from his involvement in theatre and education to his illustrations and creative collaborations.
Founded by scholars and creatives from diverse backgrounds, the Forum is united by a shared passion for Grant Wood. While the founders use this platform to share their own research, the Forum also serves as an open invitation to other experts to present current projects, new discoveries, and fresh perspectives.
Together, these winter gatherings create a welcoming space for curiosity, conversation, and continued exploration of Grant Wood’s enduring legacy.
