Take part in a community-created work of art, The Bee Project.

Created by Grant Wood Printmaking Fellow Elena V. Smyrniotis (2020-22), The Bee Project offers an exciting art project that you can do independently in your community. While the swarm continues to travel throughout North America, don't miss your chance to participate in the Project during Iowa City's Climate Fest 2023. On September 21, 2023, from 4:30-6:30, community members are invited to the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center's craft room to make your own bees. The bees will then be installed in the Discovery Garden. Watch the video above to get ideas and bring recyclables like cans, plastic bottles, take-out containers, and more to make your bees at the community workshop.

The video linked above includes information about the importance of bees and ideas and instructions on how to make your own bee. This project is intended for use in the classroom or at home, by people of all ages.
