Artist Sydney Pursel recaps the experience of the first rendition of The Feast with biodegradable wooden plates, cups, and and cutlery. She held this educational intervention as part of the Grant Wood Art Colony’s 6th Biennial Symposium: Art in Public, in Art Building West at the University of Iowa.

Each plate was wood burned by hand and can take up to 3 hours to complete depending on the design complexity. Participants ate native foods while discussing issues affecting federally-recognized tribes, historically and presently
