Brandon Alexander Williams will present selections from Currency: An A'Capella Hip-Hop Musical this Friday, May 3rd, at 7:30 p.m. in the Voxman Recital Hall (93 East Burlington Street, Iowa City). Williams is the 2018-19 Grant Wood Fellow in Interdisciplinary Performance (Music).
According to Williams, "CURRENCY...contains original pieces from a work-in-progress hip-hop musical centered around financial literacy and art-integrated education."
Born in Maywood and raised in Peoria, Illinois, Brandon Alexander Williams is a poet, MC and DJ. Williams is an alumnus of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale where he produced “The Yard: An A’Capella/Hip-Hop Musical.” As an active MC and DJ, he has performed and taught throughout the country, produced eight albums, published two books and given several guest lectures and keynotes centered around art-integrated education.
