Speaker: Joni Kinsey 

Grant Wood is best known for promoting the Regionalist art movement of the 1930s and his portrayals of Iowa landscapes and culture in paintings and prints, but he was also a remarkably versatile artist in a wide range of media. This presentation will explore how Wood's own homes and studios, as well as commissioned interior design work he did for others, are especially revealing of his ingenuity, interests, and identity. 

Biography:

Joni Kinsey is Professor of American Art History at the University of Iowa and is a member of the Grant Wood Art Colony National Advisory Board. In addition to her work on landscape painting and western art, she has written several articles on Grant Wood, especially in regard to his experience as a faculty member of the University of Iowa's art department.
