This Sunday, March 21, at 2 p.m. CST attend a free Zoom lecture "Patrons, Friends, and Artists: Connecting Brucemore’s Families and Grant Wood"with Jessica Peel-Austin, Museum Program Manager, Brucemore, hosted by the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.

In 1925, Brucemore matriarch Irene Douglas hired Grant Wood to design and paint a plaster mural on the walls of one of the mansion’s sleeping porches. Today the mural remains as one of the home’s most prominent and unique features. Brucemore's Museum Program Manager, Jessica Peel-Austin, will share the history of the porch and the connections between Iowa’s most famous artist and one of Cedar Rapid’s most prominent families as patrons, fellow artists, and friends.
